A Note on In-App Purchase

There has been some confusion around the In-App purchase and a couple of users have sent me complaints about the In-App purchase offered by DiabetesPal.

With this post I want to describe the different purchases to prevent any misunderstandings.

First of all, DiabetesPal for the Mac, the iPhone and the iPad are 3 distinct applications that need individual In-App purchases. When you purchase a license for the Mac this license can be used on the maximum allowed number of macOS devices, according to the policy of Apple. If you are using the App on an iPhone you will have to purchase the similar license for the iPhone which can in turn be used as well on the maximum allowed number of iPhones.

On all 3 applications there are 2 licenses at maximum that you need to purchase:

  • Standard License: this license will open up the application for an unlimited number of entries. Without this license you can only add up to 100 events. But you can always delete events to stay within the 100 entries.
  • Cloud License: this license will enable the possibility to sync your data with iCloud or Dropbox, across devices.

  • With the Cloud license, the limit of 100 entries is still there. If you really want to save some money and you know that you only want to add data on your iPhone, then you can purchase the Standard license, plus the iCloud license on the iPhone and only the iCloud license on the Mac. The data will still sync properly and you can look at all results.

The model was introduced to give people the possibility to try the app without having to buy it first. There is no hidden increase of the costs. Users that do not need Cloud syncing will even save money compared to the old pricing model. There are also no plans to introduce additional fees and new features will be added free of charge, without having to purchase yet another license.

    1. No problem. How do I buy the license to have more than 100 records on the MAC and ios cevices?

      1. The app will ask you to purchase the license as soon as you hit the limit. Bo need to buy it beforehand 🙂
